GLYTCH Acrylic Wearables / Practical V2

less prop, more product

Rebuilt concepts 02, 03, and 04 after researching wearable hard-case ergonomics, PC/acrylic stress points, anti-drop openings, strap load paths, and clothing fit. I also created a reusable skill and applied it here.

Reference

Kept: translucent hard-shell language, screws, strap hardware, red buckle energy. Dropped: Miku branding, impractical cosplay shape.

Skill run

New skill created and run: acrylic-wearable-industrial-design Rules used: 1. Body test — no stabbing, bruising, bouncing, breathing restriction, or cosplay-only silhouette. 2. Access test — one-hand open while worn, contents retained. 3. Manufacturing test — laser-cut/CNC PC/acrylic sheet + standard hardware, no mold dependency. 4. Style test — premium gamer/AI creator EDC, wearable with normal clothes. 5. Every design must specify opening mechanics, anti-drop, comfort layer, strap load path, and branding plane. Research applied: - Chest rigs need broad load distribution, H/X harness geometry, lower anti-bounce stabilization, and soft body-side foam/spacer mesh. A rigid chest box must never press hard acrylic directly into sternum/ribs. - PC beats acrylic for real wearables. Acrylic is prettier but more brittle; PC or coated PC should carry impact/strap stress. - Strap loads should route into metal D-rings, brackets, load spreaders, or through-bolted inserts — not raw plastic slots. - Opening while worn needs a hinge-stop/check-strap system plus anti-drop: gusset, tray lip, elastic loops, tethers, or retention foam. - Hip cases need locking belt clips and high stabilizer strap; low thigh straps bounce and look cosplay/tactical. - Sling cases need a controlled clamshell: bottom/body-side hinge, soft gusset collar, check straps, padded back, and stabilizer strap if worn in crowds.
Concept 02

Real usePhone, earbuds, card case, sample packets, small battery/cable. Convention / event / creator kit.

Opening while wornTop-hinged front lid opens upward 55° and stops on side check straps. Red top latch + secondary side safety latch.

Anti-dropDeep tray lip + elastic loops + seated phone compartment + cable grommet. Nothing loose.

Comfort / impactBroad padded spacer-mesh body-side panel, rounded lower edge, wide H-harness, lower anti-bounce strap.

ManufacturingFlat PC/acrylic front/back panels, green gasket/edge rail, screws/standoffs, metal load-spreader brackets, standard straps/buckles.

Remaining riskChest impact risk remains. Prototype needs foam thickness and blunt-force comfort testing before we call it real.

Concept 03

Locking Hip Vault

High-hip EDC case, not dangly thigh cosplay. Built for keys/cards/earbuds/wallet.

Real useWallet, cards, earbuds, keys, small tool/token. Everyday and convention carry.

Opening while wornTop/front lid opens to 90° on friction hinge + check straps. Red thumb latch mechanically tied to lid.

Anti-dropTray lip, elastic loops, card sleeve, earbud pocket, quiet key garage/pocket instead of dangling key.

Comfort / impactPadded spacer mesh body side, rounded shell, two locking belt clips spaced wide, optional high thigh stabilizer strap.

ManufacturingLine-bent PC/acrylic cover, flat side rails, screws/standoffs, Tek-Lok-style clips, webbing anchors, rubber bumpers.

Remaining riskStill boxy; needs cardboard/foam mockup to test sitting, doorframe snagging, and car-seat comfort.

Concept 04

Controlled Sling Case

Daily-life hard sling that opens like a controlled mobile tray, not a lunchbox that dumps.

Real usePhone, card vault, keys, earbuds, small shaker/sample packets. Best general-purpose wearable.

Opening while wornBottom/body-side hinge; lid opens upward/outward 65° with nylon gusset collar + check straps.

Anti-dropTray lip, elastic loops, phone sleeve, card-vault slot, key tether in quiet fabric pocket.

Comfort / impactPadded mesh back, rounded bumpers, wide seatbelt strap, metal load-spreader brackets, small stabilizer strap.

ManufacturingLaser-cut/line-bent PC/acrylic panels, standard hinges/latches/straps, metal brackets, foam/mesh back panel.

Remaining riskHinge/check-strap anchors need reinforced metal, especially if people carry a heavy bottle/tub.

My pick

04 Controlled Sling Case is the strongest actual product. It helps daily life, fits normal clothing, opens safely while worn, gives us a clean logo/front plane, and has the least weird-body-risk. 02 Chest Vault is coolest for founder/ambassador flex but needs the most comfort testing because chest impact is real. 03 Hip Vault is useful but has the most snag/sitting risk.
